Doc Wayne Youth Services is a nonprofit organization that connects with youth through sports. We utilize our sports-based therapeutic curriculum, do the good® (DtG), which stems from evidence-based treatment techniques used in traditional forms of therapy. Doc Wayne has received global recognition which includes the 2015 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Sport Award and the 2016 Sport for Health Award from Beyond Sport.
Doc Wayne's mission is to fuse sport and therapy to heal and strengthen at-risk youth. Doc Wayne is inspired by Nelson Mandela’s quote that, "sport has the power to change the world, the power to inspire, the power to unite people in a way that little else can.” Their programming is designed to promote personal development, enhance the capacity for pro-social relationships, and be an experience that youth can translate to other aspects of their lives.
Doc Wayne offers a trauma-informed group therapy program called Chalk Talk® that aims to teach youth important life skills through sports. Chalk Talk® is a mobile, outpatient service that is offered in school, community, and residential treatment settings and is currently reimbursable through third-party billing in Massachusetts. The majority of our youth participants have experienced at least one traumatic event in their lifetime. Doc Wayne staff are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment.
