This PPCC Toolkit has been developed to specifically address the needs and concerns of children and teens who have experienced the death of their sibling with medical complexities. PPCC is proud to offer information about what siblings might feel and experience, activities that allow for expression of emotions and legacy creation, and additional resources to encourage and guide conversations to aid in comfort, healing, and growth.
Sometimes talking about how we are feeling can be difficult and there are lots of ways we can express feelings without words. Feel the Beat invites participants to use a drum to tell us how they are feeling. This activity was developed and shared by Rachel McFadden, Clinical Director of Camp Mariposa Indianapolis - thank you!
While navigating your grief experience, story writing can open a door into deeper reflection and exploration. Writing freely and without judgement can unlock a flow of mindfulness and new discoveries. When taking your pen to paper, you may be wondering where to start. Eluna’s bereavement team of clinicians has put together these story writing tips for youth and adults.
The Eluna Resource Center is proud to present Eluna's Expert Voices! Using the framework of the 7 C's, we have interviewed 19 Camp Mariposa Experts across the country including mentors, caregivers, clinicians, and camp directors. The interviews have been woven together into a series of videos with the goal to elevate expert voices and expand resources within the field of addiction prevention and mentoring support. In this video Camp Mariposa Mentor & Lead Clinician, Leah, talks about the IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION through MUSIC.
The death of a parent is heartbreaking, but the issues surrounding suicide can be even more devastating. My Grief is Like the Ocean was written by mental health professionals who wanted to support caregivers during incredibly difficult conversations with children.
Lost But Found deals with one of the toughest issues a parent may ever have to face—explaining to a child that a loved one has died. Often, to protect them, children are left out of the grieving process. This book allows adults to travel with a young boy as he works to make sense of his loss—and, in turn, their own.
When it comes time to honor and remember a person who died, we understand how overwhelming this process can be - especially in the midst of grief. We also recognize the importance (and trickiness) of creating space for everyone's voice to be heard in the planning process. Eluna's Bereavement Programs Manager, Kiri Meyer, has put together this family-centered approach with concrete tips and conversation starters.
